The 7th was the 30th anniversary of “We Are the World” being released into the world, so, three days late, here we go:
It still holds up as a song on its own merits, interestingly enough, as a lot of the people who appeared here are not only still notable musicians, but are also really damn good here. If nothing else, it certainly holds up better than the second try at it:
I don’t even know who half of the contributors here are (and according to research, this is because they’re Z-listers, not because I’m old), and with all due respect to T-Pain, fuck Autotune. It’s fine for your records, but if you’re appearing in a song to benefit people affected by a tragedy, that’s some fucking garbage.
