Well, might as well get back in the habit.
Today, Sunset Neon:
Here’s an observation that may be slightly contentious, depending on how much of a Klayton Scott fan you are: Bret Autrey, AKA Blue Stahli, is the best artist on Fixt Records right now, and it’s not even close.
For the past couple of years now, he’s been pushing the limits of what he felt he could reasonably get away with under the Blue Stahli project name, but he’d begun to run up on the very real idea that he wanted to make music that didn’t fit into that “brand,” including abandonware game music and stuff that absolutely reveled in the cheesiness of the 1980’s. Thus was created the Sunset Neon project, which will be launching its debut album within the next month or so, and if the tracks that are already up on the channel are indicative of what the final product is going to sound like, it will be amazing. The Youtube channel currently hosts four songs, but aside from “Metrocenter 84,” which was originally a Blue Stahli track, the best song in the project so far has to be the above, “Baby I Got You,” which basically feels like 1988 is having sex with your ears, and I mean that in the best way possible.
